MOUNT VERNON, N.Y. – A Yonkers woman died of blunt force trauma and internal bleeding Sunday in Mount Vernon after her boyfriend's Honda Civic crashed into a tree.
According to police, Kelly Williams was in the front seat of William Watkins-Gomes’ car when it crashed on West Sandford Boulevard.
The impact of the accident forced the car to go airborne, spewing the contents of the car around the street. Watkins-Gomes, who was charged with driving while intoxicated by police at the scene, was hospitalized with minor injuries.
Police investigators were still awaiting results of a blood-alcohol test as of Monday morning and were continuing the investigation.
