Jim Magrone, who lives on Birch Road, told Daily Voice that his wife informed him about seeing a woman drive through the neighborhood – she was reportedly in a black sport-utility vehicle – and quickly take the gifts that were left outside for the workers.

Among the items stolen, according to Magrone, was $20 from he and his wife, which was left outside in an envelope.

Several envelopes with gifts that were attached to garbage cans in the neighborhood were taken, Magrone said. The incident was reported to have taken place around 9:30 a.m. on Tuesday.

Magrone, recalling his wife’s experience, said that the incident happened too fast for anyone to get the woman’s license-plate number. He recalled that his wife subsequently got more money, which was to serve as a replacement gift. It is believed that more parts of town were affected, Magrone said, based on what his wife was told when she met sanitation workers.

“Obviously we are upset that someone could do this during the holiday season,” stated Magrone, who believes that the action was planned.

Magrone said that he contacted town and state police about the matter.

According to Trooper Melissa McMorris, a public information officer for the state police, there was a report that was taken at around 9:30 a.m. on Tuesday. The matter is under investigation, she explained.
