MOUNT VERNON, N.Y. — A 13-year-old boy, who had been missing for more than a week, was found near 25 W. Sandford Blvd. on Tuesday, Mount Vernon police said.

The boy was spotted by several people who recognized him at that location, Police Chief John Roland said. He has been turned over to Westchester County Youth Services, Roland said.

The teen was a runaway who didn't come home Friday, Aug. 3, Roland said. The 13-year old will be an eighth-grader at Longfellow Middle School this school year. The boy's mother filed a police report shortly after her son went missing and spent hours driving around the neighborhood trying to locate him, published reports said.
