Crime Stoppers, in coordination with the Westchester County District Attorney’s Office and the Mount Vernon Police Department, is offering a reward of up to $2,500 for information that may lead law enforcement officials to an arrest and conviction of suspects in regards to the 27-year-old Mount Vernon native’s death.
Shortly after 9:30 p.m. on Aug. 8, 2011, Nartey was walking home from the grocery store when on South 12th Avenue when she was struck in the back of the head by a stray bullet as two men exchanged gunfire in the street.
Officials with the state Crime Stoppers have asked anyone with information to contact them at 1-866-313-8477 (TIPS) or online at its website. All callers will remain anonymous.
“Sometimes there are cases that go unsolved over time, and one of the objectives of the Crime Stoppers is to work closely with local police departments to better understand their priorities and help them solve crimes,” noted Derickson Lawrence, Westchester County Crime Stoppers chair. “Gloria Nartey in 2011 is one of those cases, and the reward still stands.”
