MOUNT VERNON, N.Y. -- A Mount Vernon woman has been sentenced to 25 years in prison after being found guilty of running down her “rival” in Yonkers with her car and fleeing the scene.

On Tuesday, acting Westchester County District Attorney James McCarty announced that Carla Scott, 36, has been sentenced to 25 years in prison after being found guilty of felony charges o manslaughter and leaving the scene of an accident earlier this year.

Shortly before 5:30 p.m. on April 18 last year, Scott was parked at the corner of Warburton and Babcock Avenue in Yonkers when her victim approached the front of her car and stood there.

According to McCarty, Scott took off, launching her victim onto the car’s hood, where she held on for nearly 30 yards before losing her grip, when she was launched backward onto the road, with both wheels on the right side of the vehicle running over her.

During the incident, the victim sustained multiple fractures and internal injuries that led to her death. Scott then fled the scene.

Following a joint investigation by the Westchester County District Attorney’s office, the Yonkers Police Department and FBI, Scott was tracked down and apprehended four days later.
