Mount Vernon Police Investigating Third Holiday Season Shooting

MOUNT VERNON, N.Y. - In the wake of the fatal holiday season shootings that took the lives of nightclub owner O’Neil Bandoo and 13-year-old Shamoya McKenzie, a third shooting incident was reported in Mount Vernon on Monday.

Police confirmed that at approximately 2 p.m. on Monday afternoon, an unidentified man had to be taken to a local hospital after he was struck in the hand by a stray bullet near West Third Street. He was treated and is expected to be released after making a full recovery.

According to reports, a man is facing weapons charges after fleeing the scene, though it is unclear if he is a suspect in the shooting. Mount Vernon Mayor Richard Thomas could not be immediately reached for comment on Tuesday morning.
