Mount Vernon Officials Blame Sewer Backup For Fire Station Illness

MOUNT VERNON, N. Y. -- Mount Vernon officials said a sewer backup in the basement of the city's fire station may be to blame for making several firefighters sick Monday night, according to News 12.

Six firefighters were taken to the hospital Monday night, then treated and released. All firefighters were then assigned to a nearby station to air out the station and fix the pipes, News 12 reports.
