Gleason, who was an active member of the community for more than four decades, died of lung cancer in October, 2013
City officials will join firefighters, administrators and family members at Mount Vernon Fire Station 1, 470 E. Lincoln Ave at 11 a,m., when a memorial plaque will be placed on the city’s Fire Headquarters.
Gleason is credited with improving firehouse infrastructure and spreading awareness of fire prevention.
