Sidney Brown, 52, of High Street in Mount Vernon, remains behind bars awaiting a Jan. 7 sentencing. He faces up to 25 years in state prision, prosecutors said.
During the course of the investigation, officials found that he had several open arrests and bench warrants in Mount Vernon and Yonkers for domestic violence incidents involving both his current wife and the victim in this incident, prosecutors said.
For the April incident, Brown pleaded guilty to one count second-degree attempted murder and one count second-degree felony strangulation, prosecutors announced Friday.
Prosecutors said he attacked the woman at about 6:30 p.m. April 8 in the parking lot of the Irvington Metro-North Rail Road station. He stabbed her repeatedly in the neck, torso, back, and thigh, authorities said.
The attack was witnessed by several other people, including the Irvington fire chief, who intervened. The defendant and victim had been domestic partners and have three children together, prosecutors said.
Both victim and defendant were treated at Westchester Medical Center, and Brown was later arraigned in Irvington Village Court, prosecutors said.
