Mount Vernon Man Pleads Guilty To Attempted Murder

MOUNT VERNON, N.Y. – A Mount Vernon gang member pleaded guilty to an attempted murder charge on Monday in connection with the shooting of a 65-year-old woman in July 2012.

Tyron McCallum, 26, a member of Get Money Gangstas, is expected to receive 20 years in state prison after entering the plea in Westchester County Court in White Plains, admitting he committed four felonies, including attempted murder, assault and weapons charges at court .

On July 25, 2012, McCallum told police that he was a witness to an incident when 10 shots were fired from a pistol into a car on East Sidney Avenue. Subsequently, McCallum was found with the weapon and was later implicated in the shooting.

McCallum will be sentenced on Aug. 14. He faces up to 25 years in state prison, but is expected to receive 20 years as part of his plea agreement with prosecutors.
