Mount Vernon Man Gets 20 Years For Murder

MOUNT VERNON, N.Y. – Mount Vernon resident Dameon Bodie was convicted by a jury Tuesday and sentenced to 20 years to life for the second-degree murder of Richard Reid, 44, whom Bodie stabbed for being with his ex-girlfriend in Sept. 2011.

Westchester County District Attorney Janet DiFiore's office said that the attack occurred at 11:15 p.m. Sept. 2, 2011  at the intersection of Franklin Avenue and Madison Street. Reid, who had been out with Bodie's ex-girlfriend on the night in question, was stabbed by Bodie multiple times on the body and neck.

The DA's office said that Bodie fled the scene after slashing Reid and went to Sound Shore Medical Center in New Rochelle for treatment of injuries that occurred to him during the murder. The DA's office said Bodie gave hospital workers a false name and said that he was the victim of a robbery.

Mount Vernon Police arrested Bodie the next day.
