Daremus Reynolds, 34, allegedly approached the checkpoint located on the ramp that connects the northbound Bronx River Parkway to the Eastbound Cross County Parkway. Reynolds swerved around the checkpoint, fled onto the Cross County Parkway, but lost control as he attempted to exit at Broad Street, crashing into a chain-link fence, police said.
Reynolds then jumped out and ran off through local streets in Fleetwood, pursued by county and Mount Vernon officers before he was captured. He allegedly then gave a fake name, but was identified through fingerprints at county police headquarters. It was determined that Reynolds was a deported fellon who illegally re-entered the country, police said.
Reynolds was charged with fleeing an officer in a motor vehicle, second-degree reckless endangerment, second-degree obstruction of governmental administration 2, second-degree criminal impersonation and driving while ability impaired by drugs, police said.
