Mount Vernon High School Under Lockdown After Brawls

MOUNT VERNON, N.Y. - Police said Mount Vernon High School was placed under lockdown Thursday afternoon following a series of reported brawls among students.

Six students, whose names have not been released, were arrested. No charges against them have been announced yet.

Members of the Mount Vernon Police Department, New York State troopers, the New York City Department of Environmental Protection and officers from Harrison responded to the incident.

Police remained on campus through the end of the school day.
