Mount Vernon Fire Leaves Three Families Homeless

MOUNT VERNON, N.Y. ‒ Officials are investigating a fire that broke out Sunday around 8:30 p.m. in a multi-family home at 514 S. 7th Ave. in Mount Vernon.

Three families were displaced, according to the American Red Cross, which is assisting with clothing, food and emergency lodging.

Officials say the fire started in the basement and left the building uninhabitable. No injuries were reported.
