MOUNT VERNON - Barrels of potentially dangerous chemicals found at a Department of Public Works facility in Mount Vernon were removed yesterday, according to News 12.
Officers from New York State Environmental Conservation Department arrived at the facility on Canal Street with gloves and respirators to get rid of the barrels, according to News 12.
Last week the five 55-gallon barrels and some five-gallon buckets appeared inside the facility. Authorities say they contained chemicals that could be hazardous.
Acting Public Safety Commissioner Ron Fatigate insists there's no danger to the public though the contents of the barrels have not been identified, according to News 12.
