Four Killed Tuesday In Mount Vernon House Fire

MOUNT VERNON, N.Y. – Four Mount Vernon residents died in a Bond Street house fire early on Tuesday morning, officials said.

Fire officials confirmed that the blaze started at approximately 3 a.m. at 11 S. Bond St., killing four and injuring three firefighters. Three of the victims were found inside a basement door, which was locked from the inside and outside. The fourth, attempting to escape the blaze, was found near a back door, officials said.

The identities of the four victims has not yet been released. Police and fire officials are currently investigating the cause of the fire, though it is suspected it may have been a space heater in the basement.
