MOUNT VERNON, N.Y. A fire that ravaged a three-story house on the south side of Mount Vernon Friday night displaced three people.
Mount Vernon firefighters responded to the home at 109 Monroe St. about 10:30 p.m. About 15 minutes after checking the building to be sure no one was inside and hosing the house down with water from the outside, they re-entered to battle the flames.
The cost of the damage to the home is unknown at this time, but the house has been declared unsafe to inhabit.
