Fire crews were dispatched to an Ellwood Avenue home at approximately 6 p.m. on Saturday, July 1, where there were reports of a structure fire, officials said, when an electrical fire broke out in the basement of the home.

One woman was in the residence at the time of the fire, and was able to get out safely, officials confirmed. The cause of the fire remains under investigation, though News12 reported that it may have been caused by a refrigeration unit that malfunctioned.

Officials said that the woman and her son, who also lives at the home, will temporarily be staying with family as contractors attempt to repair the damage to the home.
