Faith Temple Worship Center suffered heavy damage in the blaze, as did two adjoining buildings. The fire sparked shortly before 10 a.m., and responding firefighters had it knocked down less than an hour later.

The fire would later rekindle in the early afternoon, prompting an additional response from multiple fire departments when heavy smoke billowed through the nearby streets.

Fire officials confirmed that multiple firefighters were treated for minor injuries, while several suffered from what is believed to be heat exhaustion due to the warm weather. Crews from Eastchester, Greenville, Yonkers and Pelham assisted in extinguishing the blaze.

The Red Cross is currently assisting six families that were displaced by the fire.
