Several months after the Aug. 30, 2014 crash, which took the lives of three teenage boys, Michael Ware, 53, was arraigned on Wednesday in Wayne County and charged with involuntary manslaughter, endangering the welfare of children, filing a false report and other crimes.

Additionally a juvenile criminal petition was also filed on his daughter, who turns 16 this weekend. It remains to be seen whether she will be charged as an adult for her role in the accident.

According to reports, this wasn’t the first time Ware knowingly allowed his unlicensed daughter to use his Chevrolet Suburban, even putting in an order for a breakfast sandwich in the morning before the fatal crash that took the lives of Pennsylvania natives Cullen Keffer, Shamus Digney and Ryan Lesher and left Ryan Keim seriously injured.

The teenager was speeding down a hill in the Pocono Mountains near her family’s vacation home before taking a curve too rough and losing control of the truck, which flipped several times before coming to a stop on its side.

“This was a horrific tragedy and unfortunately, one that could have so easily been prevented,” Wayne County District Attorney Janine Edwards said in a statement. “The law must be followed in order to prevent such a tragedy in the future.”

Ware, who was released on $100,000 bond, is due back in court on Tuesday, Dec. 30. He could not be reached for comment on Thursday.
