Though the cause of the blaze remained unclear Sunday morning, a gas can found at one of the multi-family homes has led officials to suspect foul play, News 12 said.

Firefighters responded to the blaze about 11:30 p.m. Saturday and battled the flames for about four hours, according to News 12, which placed the total number of displaced people at 43.
