13-Year-Old Girl Killed, At Least One Injured In Mount Vernon Shooting

MOUNT VERNON, N.Y. -- A 13-year-old girl was shot and killed in broad daylight on New Year's Eve Day and at least one other person suffered injuries in Mount Vernon, according to multiple reports.

The shooting occurred just before 3 p.m. Saturday on East 3rd Street near Pease Street and Tecumseh Avenue.

An eyewitness reported hearing five gunshots fired, according to News 12.

The girl who was killed is believed to have been an innocent bystander.

The shooting is under investigation and no motive has been reported at this time.

It's the second fatal shooting in Mount Vernon in the span of a week. Early Christmas morning, the owner of the Mansion nightclub, O'Neill Bandoo, was shot and killed and five others injured in an incident in which the suspect, Errol Hillary, was apprehended at the scene.
