MOUNT VERNON, N.Y. - The wake, funeral and memorial services for legendary Mount Vernon basketball star Ray Williams are scheduled for Tuesday and Wednesday at Allen Memorial Church of God In Christ Family Center.

The wake is scheduled for 5 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Allen Memorial with the funeral service set for Wednesday at 11 a.m. A repass will be held at the Mount Vernon Boys & Girls Club following the funeral.

Williams, 58, died Friday in New York City after a battle with colon cancer. He was receiving treatment at Memorial-Sloan Kettering in Manhattan.

Williams, a star for the Mount Vernon High School Knights in the early 1970s, was selected 10th overall by the Knicks in the 1977 NBA draft. He played for the Kansas City Kings, Boston Celtics, Atlanta Hawks, San Antonio Spurs and New York Nets, averaging 15.5 points and 5.8 assists per game during his career.

The Mount Vernon native was one of several outstanding players in the Williams family that included brothers Gus and Sam. Gus Williams played for the 1979 NBA Champion Seattle Supersonics.
