Services Set In Mount Vernon For Son Of State Assemblyman J. Gary Pretlow

MOUNT VERNON, N.Y. – Services for the late son of state Assemblyman J. Gary Pretlow have been set for this week in Mount Vernon, the family announced Wednesday.

Pretlow said that James Gary Pretlow II had died on Wednesday, Dec. 21, in his home in Johns Creek, Ga. He was 42.

Pretlow Sr., D-Mount Vernon, represents the 89th District, which also includes Yonkers.

The younger Pretlow was, his father said, a “much-loved father and son.”

He was born on Aug. 21, 1974, at Lennox Hill Hospital in New York City to James Gary Pretlow and Yukiko E. Hubbard-Pretlow.

He leaves behind his daughter, Ayala Mack, and her mother, Victoria Mack-Bender, both of Covington, Ga.; his step-mother, Donna; an aunt Glorian; two half-brothers, David and Anthony; and a host of friends and other relatives.

Pretlow II’s wake is set for 6-9 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 29, at the Lee O. Wood Funeral Home, 23 East 2nd St., Mount Vernon.

The final viewing will be 9:30 a.m. Friday, Dec. 30, also at the funeral home.

Funeral services will follow at 10:30 a.m.

The home-going reception is set for noon-2 p.m., Friday, Dec. 30, at the Macedonia Baptist Church, 141 South 9th Ave., Mount Vernon.

The Rev. Dr. Darren M. Morton will preside over the services.
