Samuele L. Fortino, 91, Formerly Of Mount Vernon, Retired Police Officer

BREWSTER, N.Y. - Samuele L. Fortino of Brewster, formerly of Mt. Vernon, died Sept. 23. He was 91.

Fortino was born May 4, 1922, in Mt. Vernon, to Mathew and Rose (Storniolo) Fortino. He served with the U.S. Army during World War II. Before his retirement in 1971, he was a police officer for the City of Mt. Vernon. He lived with his wife in the Brewster area for the past four years, and before that Florida and Mt. Vernon.

Fortino is survived by his wife, Marie; daughters, Carol Fusco and Louise Fortino; sister, Josephine Grisanti; five grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

A Mass of Christian burial will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 28 at St. James the Apostle R.C. Church, 12 Gleneida Ave., Carmel, NY 10512.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in Fortino’s name may be made to: Rosary Hill Home , 600 Linda Ave., Hawthorne, NY 10532.
