Paul Doctor, 42, Mount Vernon Native

NYACK, N.J. – Paul Doctor, husband, son, brother, uncle, educator and colleague, died Wednesday, Jan. 20, following a brief and unexpected illness. He was 42.

He was born and raised in Mount Vernon. He graduated with a bachelor’s degree from Pace University and a master’s from the College of New Rochelle. He embarked on a teaching career in the South Orangetown school dDistrict, where he met his wife, Patricia Cardenas.

He enjoyed cooking, fine wine and treating family and friends to many meals and happy memories. He was also a vocal, enthusiastic Yankees and Giants fan. He was equally at ease traveling the world with Patricia or enjoying a comfortable evening at home with his cats and a good movie.

He was a son to Rose DiDonato Doctor and the late Saul Doctor.

He is also survived by his brother, Charles, and his wife, Kristina; nephews Christopher and Michael; sister Cindy and her husband, Anthony; and niece Samantha; as well as his wife’s family, Raul and Mary Cardenas, Randy, Dee, Alan, Grandma Theresa and niece Clementina.

Visiting hours will take place Sunday, Jan. 24, from 2-7 p.m. at Hannemann Funeral Home, 88 S. Broadway, Nyack. The funeral service will take place Monday, Jan. 25, at 10 a.m. at St. Anthony’s Church, Northvale, N.J., followed by burial at Rockland Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Hi Tor Animal Care Center in his name.
