He was born Aug. 29, 1924, in Guardia Lombardi, Italy, to Nicola and Angiolina Valvano. He married Arcangela Dec. 19, 1947. He was like a father figure to all his nieces and nephews.
He is survived by his brother, Costantino Valvano and sister-in-law, Antoinetta.
He was predeceased by his wife, Arcangela, in 2012; and his daughter, Nicolina, in 1957.
The family will receive friends from 5-9 p.m. Monday. A Mass of Christian burial will be conducted at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Saints Peter and Paul Church. Entombment to follow at Gate of Heaven Cemetery.
