James Gleason, 77, Of Mount Vernon, Mvfd Commissioner

MOUNT VERNON, N.Y. - James Gleason of Mount Vernon died Oct. 20. He was 77.

Gleason and his wife, Margie moved to Mount Vernon in 1970 where they raised their family. He was Mount Vernon Fire Department Commissioner and active in his community.

Gleason is survived by his son, Thomas Gleason (Melissa); daughter, Cathlin Boncardo (Roberto); sister, Maryann O'Neill; son-in-law, Joseph Hamm; three grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his wife, Margaret; and daughter, Muffin Hamm.

Calling hours are Thursday, Oct. 24 and Friday, Oct. 25 from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 a.m. at the Yannantuono Funeral Home. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday at Sts. Peter & Paul Church. Burial to follow at Gate of Heaven Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Calvary Hospital or the Community Service Associates, Inc. which operates the largest Soup Kitchen in Mt. Vernon.
