MOUNT VERNON, N.Y. Exantus Desir of Mount Vernon died Aug. 31. He was 75.
Born April 10, 1937, in Haiti, he was the son of Mondesir and Angela Desir. He worked in the maintenance department of Sarah Nueman Nursing Center for more than 35 years, retiring in 2002. Desir enjoyed people-watching, playing Lotto and going to casinos.
He is survived by his wife, Natalie; eight children, Yolette (Philippe), Frantz (Marjorie), Tony (Ernestine), Imene (Joel), Chantal (Harold), Wilbert (Marlene), Astrel (Gertrude) and Angela; three brothers, Andre Joseph, Geerd and Pierre; 22 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by a brother and a sister.
Visiting hours are from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. Friday at George T. Davis Funeral Home in New Rochelle. A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 9:30 a.m. Saturday at Sacred Heart Church in Mount Vernon. Burial will follow at Beechwoods Cemetery in New Rochelle.
