Ex-Westchester HS Baseball Standout Dies Of Opioid Overdose

The Bronxville community is mourning the loss of a teenage college student who died as a result of an opioid overdose shortly before Christmas.

Lifelong Bronxville resident Gage D. Bellitto, 19, was pronounced dead on Dec. 22 after an opioid overdose, according to a statement released by Columbia University, where he went to school, last week.

A 2016 graduate of Bronxville High School and sophomore at Columbia, Bellitto was remembered as a prominent member of the high school’s varsity baseball team. He was the son of Glenn Bellitto and Kyle and Moran and brother to Dale Anne Bellitto.

The family held services private services over the weekend and there was a Mass of Christian Burial at St. Joseph’s Church. Columbia’s counselors and advisors have offered extended on-call hours all week for friends and classmates in grief.
