Dorothy Chesson, 81, Formerly Of Mount Vernon

MOUNT VERNON, N.Y. – Dorothy Chesson, formerly of Mount Vernon, died Aug. 12.  She was 81.

The daughter of Harry and Helen Tucker, she was educated in Mount Vernon schools. Chesson worked as a school crossing guard for many years. Her family said that she knew the names of every child she crossed. Chesson also worked as a meter attendant in Mount Vernon.

She is survived by two children, Charles Chesson Jr. and Doreen Richburg Chesson; two sisters, Jean Grant, of Mount Vernon, and Elizabeth "Betty" Scotland, of Yonkers; a brother, Melvin "Cookie" Tucker, of Mount Vernon; four grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by six brothers, Harry Tucker Jr., Richard Tucker, Wilbur Tucker, George Tucker, Robert Tucker and Charles "Eddie" Tucker.

A memorial service will be held at 7 p.m. Tuesday at Lee O. Wood Funeral Home in Mount Vernon.
