Deaconess Jacqueline J. Tyler-Jones, 74, Longtime Mt. Vernon Resident

MOUNT VERNON, N.Y. - Deaconess Jacqueline J. Tyler-Jones, a longtime resident of Mt. Vernon died  June 2. She was 74.

Deaconess Tyler-Jones was born Nov. 9, 1938, in Valhalla, to John Thomas and Ruby (Turner) Tyler. A graduate of New Rochelle Schools, she was employed as a private duty nursing assistant. She served the Shiloh Baptist Church of New Rochelle as a deaconess, missionary, past trustee, Sr. usher, Mass choir, and Jr. usher matron.

Deaconess Tyler-Jones is survived by her son, Derek Todd Richardson (Pamelia); daughter, Lisa Gay Richardson; five grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and other relatives. She was  predeceased by her husband, Benjamin Heywood Jones; brothers, Chester Tyler and Joseph Dabney; and sister, Ruby Musgrove.

Calling hours are Friday, June 7 from 7 to 9 p.m. Shiloh Baptist Church, 185 Lincoln Ave., New Rochelle. Funeral service at  9 a.m. Saturday, June 8 at the church. Interment Beechwoods Cemetery.
