MOUNT VERNON, N.Y. -- Celeste Rizzetta, a Mount Vernon resident, died on Sunday, Jan. 25.
She was born in Spring Valley, N.Y., on July 19, 1918, to Louis and Lena Messina.
Celeste was predeceased by her husband, Nicholas A. Rizzetta, in 1988 and by her son, Thomas, and her granddaughters, GinaMarie and Lauren.
She is survived by her children, Celeste Yazzetti, Lucille (Paul) Lantz, Nick (Dolores) Rizzetta, April (Jack) Sutherland, Theresa (Artie) Platt and Richard Rizzetta; 15 grandchildren; and 21 great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her brothers Albert and Jack Messina.
Rizzetta was predeceased by six brothers and sisters.
Family and friends will honor Rizzetta's life on Wednesday, Jan. 28, from 4-8 p.m. at Yannantuono Burr Davis Sharpe Funeral Home. A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Thursday, Jan. 29, at Our Lady of Victory Church. Interment will be at St. Joseph's Cemetery, Yonkers.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Special Olympics, 1207 Route 9, Suite 1C, Wappinger Falls, NY 12590 in memory of Celeste Rizzetta.
