Army Reserve Veteran From Westchester, Raymond Louis Barber, Dies At 84

Rye resident and United States Army veteran Raymond Louis Barber died last month at the age of 84.

Raymond  is survived by his wife of 59 years, Eileen and their three children Raymond (Helene) of Killeen, TX. Tim (Mary) of Kinderhook, NY and Sharon Nocito (Vinnie) of Port St Lucie, FL, eight grandchildren James Barber (Angela), Michael Barber (Kaela), Vincent Nocito, Patrick Barber, John Nocito (Georgia), Christina Barber, Matthew Nocito, Christopher Barber, two Great Grandaughters Harper Barber, Molly Barber, two step-Grandchildren Colleen LaFramboise (Kent), George O’Conner (Heather) Step Great Grandchildren George O’Conner Jr, Alexa Robinson, Caitlyn LaFramboise and Nieces and Nephews. He is predeceased by his parent Louis and Edna Barber and his sister Ruth Rettenmeier (John).

After graduating from Rye High School he enlisted in the US Army and Raymond joined the Army Reserve.

After his service with the military, he became a Construction Engineer for the Local 137 International Union of Operating Engineers.

Raymond loved to go fishing and kayaking and loved to watch the NY Yankees and spending time with his grandchildren with their sporting events and other family activities

A memorial service was held on Friday, June 1, 2018, at the Treasure Coast Seawind Funeral Home, Stuart Florida. A memorial service will be held in Rye at a further date
