Apostle Curtis Brown, 86, Mount Vernon Resident

MOUNT VERNON, N.Y. -- Apostle Curtis Brown, Jr., 86, a resident of Mount Vernon for 68 years, died Oct. 11.

Born on July 19, 1929, in Vicksburg, Miss., he is the son of the late Curtis & Leola (nee Bickham) Brown. 

He has been pastor emeritus of the Refuge Church of Christ in Peekskill, where he served for 38 years.

He was also the founder of the Rehoboth Church of Christ in Mount Vernon, and presiding Apostle of the Bibleway churches worldwide. 

Apostle Brown is survived by his son and three daughters: Curtis R. Brown, Francene C. Forde, Regina (David) Robinson and Brenda (Gary) Battle; and his 13 grandchildren & 10 great-grandchildren. 

He is also survived by his brother, Herman Brown, and sister, Vivian Brown. He was predeceased by his wife, Lizina R. Brown and his daughter, Beverly Brown.

 Friends may call come Thursday from 5-7 p.m. at the Refuge Church of Christ, 831 Main St., Peekskill, where a service will be conducted at 7 p.m.
