MOUNT VERNON, N.Y. -- Almerinda Valvano, of Mount Vernon, died on Monday, April 6. She was 96 years old.
She was born in Guardia Lombardi, Italy, on Jan. 26, 1919, to Gaetano and Filomena Valvano.
She is survived by her nephew, Ralph (Teresa) Caruso; and three nieces, Theresa DiMatteo; Lucille Benz; and Gina DiMatteo.
Visitation is Saturday, from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m., at the Yannantuono Burr Davis SharpeFuneral Home, 584 Gramatan Ave, Mount Vernon.
A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m., on Saturday, at St. Ursula's Church. Burial will be at Gate of Heaven Cemetery in Valhalla.
