MOUNT VERNON, N.Y. - Membership applications are being accepted for the Mayor's Youth Empowerment Council.

The council is an advisory board made up of youths between ages 12-18. The council is set up to relay ideas to the mayor's office and members of the city council from young people in Mount Vernon.

"This gives a voice in the establishment to youth with various programs and opportunities," said Mayor Ernie Daivs. "We are giving youth an opportunity to positively influence their community."

The applications are due by March 18 and can be mailed to either Makeda James or Dena Williams at the Mount Vernon Youth Bureau at 105 Stevens Ave.
