Winter Storm Hits Mount Vernon

MOUNT VERNON, N.Y. - A winter storm blew through Mount Vernon Wednesday night leaving minimal damage.

The storm knocked over a stop sign on Grand Street by Hussey Street leading to the Cross County Parkway in Mount Vernon.

The National Weather Service reported 20 mile per hour winds, which are expected to continue Thursday afternoon with a 40 percent chance of rain.

The temperature at 11:30 a.m. Thursday was 38 degrees but was predicted to drop to a low of 27 degrees with 20 mile per hour winds continuing.
