The senior services provider opened the new building that houses a "progressive 'patient-centered' rehabilitation center and the region’s only adult day services center" earlier this week with a ribbon cutting ceremony, according to a news release.  The center is open seven days a week. The three-story, 70,200 square foot structure is located on Wartburg’s 34-acre campus.

“This fantastic new Center of Excellence is made of concrete and steel but what holds it together comes from our timeless Wartburg values,” said David Gentner, president and CEO of Wartburg, in the release. “This is the beginning of a movement towards more of a community-based model of care for seniors in our community. Wartburg is proud to play a key part in this movement.”

Mount Vernon Mayor Ernest Davis said he was amazed at the Mount Vernon building.

“As an architect, I am truly amazed at the design and speed at which this new addition to the Wartburg campus was completed," Davis said in the release. "Mount Vernon is proud to showcase Wartburg’s fantastic new addition to their campus, enhancing the lives of those living in our community.”

County Legislator Lyndon Williams agreed.

“Wartburg has always been an integral part of our Westchester community and with the completion of the New Rehabilitation and Adult Day Services Center once again they have gone above and beyond to provide much needed services for our communities – our thanks to Wartburg for the work that you do,” said Williams, Vice-Chairman of the Westchester County Board of Legislators, in the release.

The Rehabilitation Center is a two-story, sub-acute inpatient rehabilitation facility and is designed to be "'patient-centered' by being split into four small 'neighborhoods,' each with 12 or 13 well appointed, private bedrooms," according to the release.

The Day Services Center "offers both medical and social models of care and is open 7 days a week, which is unique in Westchester," according to the release.
