The Supreme Court announced on Thursday the dismissal of the lawsuit filed by Iona in February regarding the merger of property lots on Beechmont Drive and Montgomery Place.

According to officials, the lawsuit challenged the city’s approval process regarding the merging of property lots for all institutions, which requires a public process and community input. Iona had sought to have 11 lots on Beechmont Drive and Montgomery Place merged without public process.

A spokesperson for the college stated “our legal team is disappointed, but is prepared to move forward with next steps to protect Iona’s property rights - just as any homeowner would do."

“We are pleased that the Court completely upheld the City’s position in this matter and we look forward to putting the matter behind us,” New Rochelle City Manager Chuck Strome III said. “I believe the decision speaks for itself.”
