The New York State Division of Criminal Justice Services issued an alert this week to Westchester residents regarding the residency of 38-year-old Jelani Rogers, who has moved from White Plains to an apartment on East 5th Street in Mount Vernon.

The Division of Criminal Justice Services has assigned Rogers as a level two threat, which means he is at "moderate risk of a repeat offense." He has also been designated as a sexually violent offender.

According to the Division of Criminal Justice Services, Rogers had "deviate sexual intercourse" with his victim, in May 1999. He was convicted the following year and sentenced to a term of between one day and four years in state prison. He is now under the jurisdiction of the Elmsford Village Police Department.
