YONKERS, N.Y. – The Saw Mill and Cross County parkways have been reopened, nearly two days after they were closed for a water main break.
The right lane of the southbound Saw Mill River Parkway is still shut down south of Rumsey Road, however, as crews continue to work. Westchester County police said both parkways were reopened at 3:30 a.m.
A private contractor accidentally broke the 30-inch main that borders the Saw Mill River Parkway, near Wendover Road, while installing fiber-optic cables on Monday. The break flooded the Saw Mill River Parkway with about a foot of water, and required the and Cross County Parkway to be shut as well.
