MOUNT VERNON, N. Y. -- Mount Vernon officials say they are engaged in battle to eliminate a rat infestation program that's been plaguing certain areas of town, according to News 12.
Public works employees and exterminators were out all weekend laying traps and posting warning signs about rat poison. They are also fining landlords in complexes where trash is piling up, News 12 reports.
Residents on North Bond Street have complained about multiple rat sightings in their area and also near the fire station on Oak Street near Hamilton Elementary School, among other areas, News 12 says.
