MOUNT VERNON, N.Y. ? The installation of gas lines on Union Avenue in Mount Vernon will take about one more week, according to workers from Persico Contracting.
Construction began at the beginning of August near the intersection with E. 1st Street with workers digging holes to install the new lines. Since the beginning of August, workers have gone the length of the block excavating. They said the excavation is complete and the company is now installing gas lines into several houses on Union Avenue between E. 1st and E. 2nd streets.
Currently, that section of Union Avenue is blocked off by a police car that is allowing local traffic to go through.
