MOUNT VERNON, N.Y. – The Mount Vernon Public Library reopened Friday after being closed Wednesday night.
The Mount Vernon Public Library said the building closed Wednesday due to an unspecified "building emergency." The library announced on its website Wednesday night that the building should reopen on Thursday , but it remained closed all day.
About $250,000 was cut from the library's budget when the 2013 municipal budget was adopted, but there is no confirmation that the library's closing on Wednesday was related to that.
The Library Board of Trustees was supposed to meet Wednesday, but the meeting was postponed because of the building problem. The board will meet next on Feb. 20.
