Mario and Xavier Vallejo are being sued for $15,000 as a result of damage to the city-owned and taxpayer-funded car. The accident occurred in Montvale, N.J., on June 24 and subsequent lawsuit followed on July 7 in New York State Supreme Court, according to lohud.com.

The accident is being blamed on the Vallejos' negligence. Ralph Uzzi, the DPW commissioner, was a resident of Upper Saddle River at the time leading to his operating the vehicle at that time outside of the state, according to lohud.com.
