Reports said that at least two years' worth of financial disclosure forms, which are required to be filed each year, are missing from high-ranking village officials, including Mayor Ernest Davis.

“It’s a little unsettling to see all the negativity that has been following around the people that are supposed to be leading us,” resident Jackie Scott said. “These are people we are supposed to be able to trust.”

Davis is also involved in a federal probe investigating both his finances and charity organizations that he founded during his time in office.

The city ethics board is in the process of determining whether Corporation Counsel Nichelle Johnson acted in poor faith when she made use of a car that had been loaned to her by a strip club owner that sued Mount Vernon on more than one occasion.

Resident Dave Liller said he’s curious to see how all of the investigations unfold, though he hopes for the best.

“I think it will be interesting to see how the whole thing shakes out, there’s certainly a lot going on right now,” he said. “Hopefully there were just some minor mistakes made and we can put our faith in the people we elected.”

The City of Mount Vernon has not offered comment regarding any of these investigations.
