MOUNT VERNON, N.Y. - Mount Vernon Hospital has received a five-year $500,000 grant from the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services.
The grant, through the department's Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services, went to only 52 non-profits nationwide, including Mount Vernon Hospital.
"Qualifying for a federal grant acknowledges the quality of our staff and services," said John Spicer, CEO of Sound Shore Health System, which includes Mount Vernon Hospital. "Further, it confirms that with these resources, our team can produce significant results in the field of hepatitis C prevention and treatment.”
Mount Vernon Hospital was given a similar grant five years ago, which this one will build upon. The money will help with the Health Intervention and Prevention Program the hospital offers. A news release by the hospital said that the grant will help expand the program to address hepatitis C for an "at-risk population."
