Mount Vernon Foreclosures Net City $1 Million

MOUNT VERNON, N.Y. -- A recent auction of 33 foreclosed properties in Mount Vernon raised $2.4 million, that after paying city expenses, will net the city more than $1 million, according to lohud.com.

The auction included properties the city had seized for nonpayment of taxes or fees and featured everything from churches to vacant lots, said lohud.com.

One of the more controversial parcels to sell was the former headquarters of the Jonas Brothers Studios, which sold for $310,000, that a local cultural group had tried to purchase last year, added Lohud.com.
