Mount Vernon Church Hosts 'Invest In Our Community' Rally

MOUNT VERNON, N.Y. -- The Mount Vernon Heights Congregational Church and several other area groups will host an “Invest In Our Community” rally Oct. 17.

The event will be from 6-7 p.m. outside the Dole Center, 250 S. 6th Ave. Its aim is to bring attention to the unmet needs of children and youth due to cuts in child care, after-school programs and other related services. It also will call on all candidates running for Westchester County office to pledge to make investments in children and youth and restore funding, as well as urge parents and community members who care about children and youth to vote accordingly Nov. 5.

The event is organized by Mount Vernon Heights Congregational Church, South Side Heights, Child Care Council of Westchester and Westchester Children’s Association.
